Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series Rear Disc Brake Conversion Kit with Handbrake
Convert your Toyota Land Cruiser LJ70 rear drum brakes to disc brakes while retaining a cable-operated mechanical handbrake.
This complete conversion kit brings together the brake calipers, discs, pads, mounting adapters, brake hoses, handbrake cables and installation hardware needed for the conversion.
Includes brake calipers with an integrated cable-operated handbrake mechanism and both handbrake cables. The cables require adaptation at the vehicle’s handbrake linkage to suit its wheelbase and connection arrangement.
Replacement wear parts and individual kit components are available separately, making future servicing possible without purchasing another complete kit.
This is not a plug-and-play kit. Installation requires machining of the axle shaft flanges, adaptation of the handbrake cables and checking of caliper carrier alignment. Please read the installation requirements before ordering.

Installation and Required Modifications
Axle Shaft Flanges
The outer diameter of the axle shaft flanges must be reduced by machining to allow the brake discs to fit over them and seat correctly. The discs do not fit directly over the unmodified flanges.
Machining the inner diameter of the brake discs is not recommended for safety reasons. The required fit must be achieved by machining the axle shaft flanges instead.
Cable-Operated Handbrake
The supplied handbrake cables fit the mechanisms on the brake calipers.
At the vehicle’s handbrake operating lever or linkage, the cables must be adapted to suit the wheelbase and connection arrangement of the particular vehicle.
The caliper-side connections are supplied ready to fit; adaptation is required on the operating-lever side. This allows the cables to be configured for the vehicle being converted.
Caliper Carrier Alignment
The supplied 0.5 mm shim washers / spacers fit between the adapter bracket and the caliper carrier. Use them as required to position the brake disc centrally within the carrier.
Usually, two washers per caliper carrier are sufficient. Additional washers are included because the required spacing can vary between vehicles. Determine the final washer arrangement by checking the actual disc and carrier alignment during installation.
Mounting Bolts and Threadlocking Compound
Threadlocking compound is included to secure the mounting bolts and help prevent them from loosening. Apply it to the relevant mounting bolts during assembly, following the compound’s instructions and the applicable tightening specifications.
Wheel Clearance
Wheel size and offset must also be considered to ensure sufficient clearance between the wheels and the brake calipers. Check wheel clearance during installation.
Replacement Parts Available Separately
When the brake pads wear out or an individual component needs replacing, you do not need to buy another complete conversion kit.
We supply replacement wear parts and individual kit components separately. Contact us for replacement pads, discs, caliper components, handbrake cables or other parts from the kit.
Important Information
Installation must be carried out by a qualified mechanic familiar with brake conversions. Correct machining, secure mounting, caliper alignment, wheel clearance and full brake and handbrake function must be checked before use.
Tested on the Toyota Land Cruiser LJ70. The kit may also fit some other Land Cruiser 70 Series models, but compatibility must be checked before ordering, as rear axle and brake configurations vary between versions.
This kit is supplied without any road approval documentation. The conversion has been tested and works effectively and safely when correctly installed. It is designed to improve on the original drum brake setup with easier maintenance and greater durability, while allowing straightforward brake inspection and pad replacement.
